When Mama Prayed“For You formed my inward parts; You covered me in my Mother’s womb. I will praise You for I am fearfully and wonderfully made; Marvelous are Your works, and that my soul knows very well.” Psalm 139:13-14 It is Mama’s prayers that put our fears to rest. Husbands who don’t attend church or teenagers with restless days don’t stand a chance when Mama prays. Randy Travis sings a song called, “When Mama Prayed.” The chorus goes like this: When Mama prayed, good things happen In the Bible verse listed above, we acknowledge that it is the hand of God that took sinew, bones, and flesh and formed us when we were in our mother’s womb. God fashioned our body and made us the way we look, each person with a separate DNA. But, it is Mama’s loving hands of discipline, caressing hands of love, and most of all, her continuous folded hands of prayer that largely shapes us into the person we are today. It is true that the hand that rocks the cradle rules the world. It is also true that, “the effective fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much” (James 5:16). I submit that Mama’s prayers seem to avail much more. If you have testimony to share, send me an Email (larrywenzel@aol.com) or contact the office so we can help others overcome the devil. |
