Fruitful PrayingIt’s Autumn, that time of year when we turn our thoughts to the harvest. Did you know that one kernel of corn planted in the ground has the potential to reproduce more than 300 kernels on a single cob? Pretty impressive. Paul must have had the sowing and reaping idea in mind when he wrote to the Colossians, “walk worthy of the Lord, fully pleasing Him, being fruitful in every good work....” (Col 1:10). Before retiring a number of years ago, Dr Earl Baldwin, senior pastor at Trinity AG in Lutherville, MD, figured there was only so much that he, one person, could do to advance God’s Kingdom. But, he also figured that if he poured his life into many church planting pastors, he could increase the fruit of his work for God. So, periodically, he gathered these new pastors together and taught them about pastoring and shared his experiences with them. Pretty savvy. I have an idea about how you might expand your prayer life and become more fruitful at the same time. Pray about mentoring someone. Link up with a new Christian at church and help them in their spiritual growth. Been married for awhile? Become friends with a newly wed couple. Are you an empty nester? I’ll bet there are some young parents who could use encouragement from someone who has been through the fires of parenting. Pray that God would help you mentor and impact someone else and watch the fruit begin to grow.If you have testimony to share, send me an Email (larrywenzel@aol.com) or contact the office so we can help others overcome the devil. |
