 Bethel Assembly’s slogan is “When you’re here, you’re home…Welcome home!” We would like to help you settle in at Bethel Assembly by informing you of one of our programs especially designed for young boys called the Royal Rangers. This program was established in 1962 by Rev. Johnnie Barnes at the request of the Assemblies of God, headquartered in Springfield, Missouri. Rev. Barnes’ focus was to reach, teach and keep boys for Jesus Christ. This focus remains the purpose and goal of the Royal Rangers ministry today. This program includes so many events, indoor and outdoor activities, designed specifically for young men to help boys grow in four ways; Mentally, Physically, Spiritually, and Socially.

The program ages we are targeting are ages five to seventeen. The groups are divided as follows.

Ranger Kids - Kindergarten through Second Grade

Discover Rangers - Third through Fifth Grade

Adventure Rangers - Sixth through Eighth Grade

Expedition Rangers - Ninth through Twelfth Grade

Each group has a Royal Ranger Commander assigned to them and each Ranger level has the opportunity to earn appropriate advancement awards. These awards are earned through specific requirements as mentioned above in growth for these boys. They are guided along their advancement path by activities and adventures in games, hiking, nature study, crafts, ceremonies, Bible study and Christian living. The younger boys participate in day camps with other outposts in the District while the older boys attend Pow-Wows that consist of a weekend of camping.

More than one million boys have participated in Royal Rangers around the world. Every four years, an international Camporama is held at the Royal Rangers campground at Eagle Rock, Missouri. This is an exciting weeklong experience, which brings together 5,000 plus men and boys.  The Royal Ranger Code reminds each boy of the standard they are to strive to reach. “A Royal Ranger is ALERT, CLEAN, HONEST, COURAGEOUS, LOYAL, COURTEOUS, OBEDIENT, AND SPIRITUAL.”

Bethel’s Royal Ranger group meets on Wednesday evenings from 7:00 p.m. – 8:30 p.m. We welcome you and your son(s) to Bethel and invite you to attend our next meeting to learn more about the program and meet the commanders who lead each group.
